private voice lessons

Hello! I teach lessons in Boulder, Denver, and offer virtual options.

My teaching studio is designed for students who already have a musical practice and are looking to deepen their relationship with music. I primarily work with teens and adults at an intermediate level or above who are committed to developing their voice, musicianship, artistry, or songwriting over time.

I am looking to work with folks who:

  • Already practice or are willing to develop a consistent practice

  • Have a clear curiosity about their voice and artistry

  • Are interested in going deeper into their craft and adopting a beginner's mind

I encourage you to explore my music and sound to get a sense of where I come from artistically. While I’m happy to work across many styles, I primarily specialize in jazz, soul, R&B, pop, and funk.

I may not be the best fit if your primary focus is classical voice, musical theatre, or distortion-based vocal styles.

If you are interested in joining the Boulder waitlist, please send a message introducing yourself and sharing a bit about:

  • Your musical background

  • Your current practice or experience level

  • What you’re hoping to develop in lessons

I currently have limited Denver availability on Mondays and Wednesdays.

If this approach resonates with you, feel free to reach out and I’ll be in touch.

my background

As a passionate music teacher with a diverse background in jazz, R&B, soul, and pop, I strive to inspire my students through the power of music. With six years of experience teaching private lessons, I focus on nurturing each student’s unique voice and creativity, helping them explore their musical interests while developing essential skills.

My journey began at Berklee College of Music, where I honed my craft in vocal jazz and songwriting, and continued at Naropa University, where I deepened my understanding of music's emotional and expressive potential. As a working vocalist and singer-songwriter, as well as a guitarist and keys player, I bring real-world experience into my teaching, encouraging students to find their own artistic path.

my teaching style

I believe that expansive breathing and releasing tension are key to helping singers discover their authentic voice. Alongside personalized technique exercises, I incorporate elements of mindfulness and breathwork, encouraging self-reflection throughout the vocal journey. This foundational approach is adaptable to any singing style, allowing for a well-rounded development rather than focusing solely on one particular vocal genre.

I provide personalized PDFs and recordings to enhance your musical practice, along with access to a home recording studio. Whether you want to record a demo or learn to create engaging reel-style videos with vocal layering, I’m here to help. As a professional musician with expertise in social media, I can guide you in crafting captivating musical content.

Whether you sing for fun, want to explore your voice more deeply, or are a professional musician seeking to expand your skills, I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities. At the core of my approach is the belief that nurturing a love for music and developing solid technique are essential to growth.

Student Testimonials

"I came to Liv with no voice training whatsoever, but a desire to learn. She offered me guidance, insight, and patience, which were all so valuable in my learning experience. Her energy is very calming and open, which helps you feel comfortable. I have seen tons of progress in my voice over the last year since seeing Liv and I’m grateful to have found her!"

"Working and taking guitar and voice lessons with Liv was a really enriching experience. Liv not only takes time to thoroughly teach you how to work with the guitar and your voice, but also explains why she uses the methods that she does. Her educational background in music only enhances her already natural talent with music and teaching and she is very generous with passing on many of the lessons she learned during her musical education. I appreciate her teaching style as she takes the time to customize her lesson plan for the learning types and musical levels of each of her students.

One of my favorite aspects of taking lessons with Liv is her ability to create a comfortable space that isn't scary or uncomfortable while still encouraging her students to try new things and step out of their comfort zone. She is definitely an instructor I would recommend if you are looking for a safe place to step out of your comfort zone and build your musical confidence. I appreciated her knowledge of recording studios and her willingness to share her tools with students so they can record their progress and also learn how to work with different types of musical tools.

All in all, as someone who has worked with a number of musical teachers/instructors, Liv was my favorite as she creates a holistic learning experience that combines a structural knowledge of music with a flexible learning space that nurtures comfort with learning something new"
